Atlanta Dives

I recently moved out here to San Fran, but I'll put down my favorite dives from Atlanta (and surroundings) before I forget.

Little 5 points: (Atlanta's gentrefied and safe freak-zone)
ElMyr: Counterfit mexican dive bar named for a counterfit spanyard who painted counterfits. Fun place, espically if you like the Dead Kennedies. Margurita is the drink here. It'll put you on your ass and tast like it too. $4.
Euclid Ave. Yacht Club (EAYC): Fun almost-dive bar. Espically seeing how there are no yachts within 100 miles.

south of there you have Meremorial (pronounced Muh-mor-ral) drive
Six Feet Under: across from the historic Oakland Cemetery (current home of Martin Luther King, jr) Great bar, good catfish
Lenneys: Former biker bar that turned sortof hipster when the owner got a crack addiction (odd story, that). Still has $2 pbr tallboys. Free pool on Tues/Thrus or Mon/Wed (I can't remember, drank those braincells away)

north-east:
Mr. C's Neighborhood Bar and Grill (no kitchen as far as I know). Damn good dive off of Howell Mill Rd

DecaturLand: (Important: Decatur serves until 4 (or later), Atlanta closes alcohol at 2)
Trackside (aka trashside or dykeside): Cheap wells, drunken karioki on tuesdays. Very good for the gay/lesbian croud. Free pool on weeknights that Lenny's doesn't have it. (see above)

Famous is on the north end of Dekatur (near Emory, which means you'll see girls driving silver bimmers and white mustangs). Famous is great because it's where all the waitstaff of the emory machine go to decompress. Occasionally gets taken over for sport events though. Lots of beer on tap.

For people not familiar with Atlanta, The Highlander is NOT a dive bar, it wants to be one. Don't let occasional bikers fool you, they are paid to be there as far as I can tell. The Independant (above highlander) is not a dive bar, it's known as "The World of Coke", and we're not talking about the soda. Azul in decatur is hipster and charges 7 bucks for a whiskey, but they do have $1 PBR on friday, which almost makes it worthwile.

Do's in atlanta dives: PBR tallboys (you'll be called out if you order a 12 ouncer), whiskey, burbon, anything lite, et cetera
Don'ts in atlanta: Mimosa, Cosmo, ____ sour, foreign beers,

Oh, and if you go into a bar that sells 40's, don't stay out of curocity, get the hell out. That's not a dive, that's your funeral.
