Dive bars are a dying breed in Pasadena. Way back in the day, it used to be the the 35'er ("Dirty Diver"). But that was before they got discovered, popular, renovated, and beer-bannered.

    There's still the Colorado.

Or the Loch Ness-turned-Old Town Pub, if you can find your way around the Container Store blocking its original entrance.

Oh, wait, I almost forgot: THE RANCHO BAR on N. Lake in Altadena (just south of Altadena Drive). That's my tip. Stiff drinks. Friendly vibe. Outside seating too. Random food sometimes available.

I was just gonna post the Rancho and then you beat me to it! My friend lived up the hill for a while and used to frequent there...too bad we never went on my visits down there!

I'm within walking distance too. Although I've never walked TO the Rancho, I've definitely done the trek home a few times.... It's not too late for another visit!
